Starlink continues to grow and is being offered in more and more countries, but continues to suffer from speed issues.
Starlink internet service is still in the news. A few weeks ago we informed you that it is now possible to book in our country and this connection mode will be implemented in more and more territories, but it still has a long way to go to convince users. The complications are not only in the price or the complicated installation, also in the connection speed.
During the last months we have been able to see that the speed was not being the expected with the first users that were activated and little by little it has been improving. Obviously, this can be a major problem for the company if it wants to expand its business.
Elon Musk is the best commercial for the products of his companies and sometimes surprises everyone by answering anyone on Twitter. Despite being controversial at times, his posts are very popular and he has responded to questions about Starlink’s slow speed.
Currently, the company is promising speeds that move between 50 and 150 Mbps, figures that are somewhat limited. Although they can be useful in populations with connection problems, they do not justify the investment required to connect to Starlink. But Elon Musk warns that 300 Mbps will be reached.
To improve this speed, they must also deal with latency and make it move over 20 ms and not between 34 and 44, as some users are having. There are different fronts that must be taken into account, although Musk avoids saying an exact date in which this will be achieved.
As reported in The Verge, all these promises must be taken with caution. Musk usually talks about many topics on Twitter and sometimes comments on plans that are very distant in time. We will see how Starlink progresses in the coming months and if they manage to improve in this aspect, otherwise it will be difficult to grow in users enough to compensate the investment.
